Born and raised outside of Boston, MA, Nealy Hauschildt received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Michigan. She currently lives and works in Darien, Connecticut. Her work has been selected for various publications, and is part of public and private art collections across the country.
Nealy’s work explores our emotional connection to color, line, and form. Luminous, layered washes of paint aim to capture the shifting colors and shapes of our environment. Reflected light dancing along a boat’s hull; a melting cup of ice cream flavors swirling together; a discarded peach pit laying in the crosswalk – Nealy borrows color pairings from mundane moments to influence her work. As planned as it is exploratory, Nealy’s process begins intentionally by layering opaque and transparent washes of color, leaving room for her compositions to evolve naturally.
Nealy hopes for her work to provide a moment of reflection, or escape; to reconnect us with our surroundings through color.
